Why Perona Farms is a Videographer’s Dream Venue

If you're planning a wedding at Perona Farms in Andover, New Jersey, you're already ahead of the game. Tucked into 57 acres of Sussex County countryside, Perona Farms is one of the most visually stunning and cinematically rich wedding venues in all of Northern New Jersey — and as a wedding videographer who works throughout the NJ/NY metro area, it's the kind of venue that makes my job feel like pure joy. Also- as someone who has sampled the menus at many different venues in the tri state area- the food is actually the best! Hands down!

Here's what makes it so special to film, and what couples planning their Perona Farms wedding should know when it comes to capturing it on video.

Three Venues, Three Completely Different Films

One of the things that makes Perona Farms so unique is that it's not just one venue — it's three distinct spaces, each with its own personality and visual feel.

The Barn is the venue for couples who want that warm, golden-hour magic. Originally built in the late 1930s, it's all vaulted ceilings, natural light, and rustic texture. The iconic silos outside are a videographer's dream for outdoor ceremony footage, and the covered patio creates gorgeous soft light during cocktail hour. Candlelight inside? Cinematic.

The Refinery is the moody, editorial choice. The exposed white-washed brick, statement lighting, and industrial edge create contrast that looks incredible on film — especially for couples who want a wedding video that feels a little more editorial and dramatic. The getting-ready suite here is spacious and beautifully lit, which means your prep footage will actually look like it belongs in the final film.

The Reserve, reimagined in 2025, brings a Tuscan villa feel to the New Jersey countryside. Stone columns, warm wood accents, a retractable-roof ceremony garden — it films like a destination wedding without the plane ticket. This is the space for couples who want sweeping, romantic wide shots and an overall film that feels lush and timeless.

The Property Is a Location Scout's Dream

Beyond the three venues, the Perona Farms estate itself is full of incredible filming locations. The gardens, patios, orchard, and Perona Lake offer natural variety that lets us capture footage that feels layered and cinematic — not just "couple standing in front of a wall." A well-rounded wedding film tells the story of the whole day, and the grounds here make that easy.

The farm-to-table details — from the on-site greenhouse and beehives to the seasonal floral arrangements — are the kind of visual storytelling elements that make wedding films feel rich and specific to your day, rather than generic.

A Few Notes for Couples Booking Perona Farms

If you're getting married at Perona Farms and starting to think about vendors, here's what I'd suggest from a videographer's perspective:

Book video early. Perona Farms is one of the most sought-after venues in Sussex and Morris County, and the best videographers in the area fill up quickly for dates here. If you've locked your date, don't wait.

Ask about drone footage. The aerial views of the Perona Farms property — 57 acres of New Jersey countryside — are absolutely stunning. As an FAA-certified drone operator, I can tell you that this estate photographs and films beautifully from above. If drone footage is important to you, make sure your videographer is certified and confirm with the venue that it's permitted.

Talk to your videographer about the transitions. One of the things that makes Perona Farms weddings so filmable is the natural flow of the day — ceremony to cocktail hour to reception, often with beautiful outdoor-to-indoor transitions. A good videographer will scout the space in advance or arrive early to plan how to capture those moments.
